Regulators in a Modern Age
Boris Vujcic (HNB)
Regulators are often caught in the crossfire between those who provide services and those who receive them. One way or the other they have to guarantee safety and stability of the actors but recently the technology is having an ever larger impact on the financial markets and the regulators cannot fall behind. Online payments, mobile banking, P2P lending, securities, derivatives, and cryptocurrencies are at everyone's fingertips while open banking and data are just the tip of the ice-berg of possibilities. Moderator: Nikola Pavesic (Nikkei) & Liana Keseric (RBA)
Traditional banks are seldom perceived as the original innovators and particularly not when it comes to digital products. Terms like agile, UX and CX are more often associated with slick fintech startups that offer new and popular products than with traditional banks, but the times are changing quickly. This fireside chat will work through realizations and use cases of an established bank how to adapt to the digital world and position itself to understand this is just the beginning of a digital future.

How should we do that?

Srdjan Mahmutovic (Kriptomat)
Crypto has definitely been the leitmotif of alternative finance solutions that decisively moved mainstream throughout the past decade. After the original products like coins and currencies of all kinds came DeFi - and all of them had to meet sceptical regulators and eager marketers. From one of the leading regional crypto exchanges we will learn their story and how they got where they are including optimizing a product, building a client base and convincing regulators. Past that, we will also dive into predictions for what awaits them and the crypto markets in the decade to come.

Lochan Sim (Payoneer)
During this session Lochan would like to take a deep dive into why orchestration is becoming the new go to for payments and what the differences are of building up your very own orchestration platform or buying and having it done externally. 11:00 - 11:20
Fireside chat - Why Are Big Banks Entering Crypto?
Moderator: Bozidar Pavlovic & Nikola Skoric (Electrcoin)
Crypto is exploding again. But this time, it’s not enthusiasts and retail investors, this time it’s big banks and investment funds who are leading the action. Three years after last all time high and two years after losing 85% of its value, last week bitcoin broke its price record. What changed in those years? What is the fundamental value of crypto? And, why does crypto simply refuse to die? Bozidar Pavlovic, Croatia’s foremost fintech maverick will try to get answer to those questions from Nikola Skoric, the face of Croatia’s crypto industry.
11:20 - 11:50
The Crypto Future: From Utopia to (Lacklustre) Adoption
Tim Draper (Draper Associates)
Blockchain, Bitcoin and all subsequent cryptocurrencies have swooped in as a revolutionary concept from Satoshi's white paper onwards. Promises of restructuring not only the financial sector but society itself were thrown around relentlessly in the years that followed. Since then the bubble has slightly deflated but some people claim the real deal is only about to happen. Tim Draper, besides being a globally famous VC, is an early crypto adopter and will give us his perspective on when, how, and which use cases can we expect for blockchain and cryptocurrencies to be ready for mass adoption in finance.
11:50 - 12:10
The PSP Is Dead, Long Live the PSP!
Lennart Koopmans (Magnius)
PSPs started as financial institutions, building their own technology and taking care of compliance. And these two disciplines are making it almost impossible to set up a new PSP nowadays. But this is all history. If you understand the opportunities of being in the transaction data flow and not particularly in the money flow, a world will open. Magnius will explain in this talk how you can be part of this ecosystem without a large technology or compliance team while still acting as a sophisticated PSP for your target clients.
12:10 - 12:55
Fintech as a Value Creator: Smaller Ecosystems Have a Horse in This Race
Moderator: Bozidar Pavlovic, Dzenan Lojo (TIS), Kristijan Luburic (venITure), Filip Šaravanja (Hanfa), Hrvoje Cosic (Aircash)
The size of the markets you are servicing impacts heavily the opportunities you are given. The size of the investments, the amount of talent and the overall business success. However, we see that appearances might be misleading as smaller environments seem to be disproportionately productive. In this panel we will discuss how to achieve this from both the perspective of the private sector and the regulator and see what are the challenges but also the advantages of such ecosystems.

Mission (Im)possible: Core Banking Outsourced
Dubravko Martinic (Serengeti)
A story about how mission impossible lost the „im“ prefix will be told by Dubravko Martinić, Program manager and one of Serengeti’s finest. Handling the core business system for a big European bank and sailing through smoothly is asking for a high level of engagement, going the extra mile when needed and being prepared for the unexpected. All of this combined with being aligned with the client 24/7, and relying on limited human resources made this mission quite challenging, yet not impossible.
14:00 - 14:45
Fintech Prophecies: Startups vs Banks or Startups and Banks
Moderator: Nikola Pavesic (Nikkei), Marijana Dumancic (LAQO), Mislav Javor (AMPnet), Josipa Majic (Revuto), Roberto Bitunjac (Sberbank)
Fintech has brought unprecedented innovation to financial services and pushed the markets towards open banking and payment facilitation but would the banks do it without startups? Will the disruptor startups surpass its older and bigger siblings? Or is collaboration the word of the day? This engaged panel representing both sides will answer how we got here and where should we be in 5 years from now.

Professional Traders in the Age of Retail Trading: How to Be at The Top of Your Game
Jason Berry (Positive equity)
Trading Bitcoin is a fools game for most people unless you are a pro. I am approached by people asking about how to trade Bitcoin/cryptos at every single conference slightly related to finance. I am asked by friends, friends of friends, what do you think of Bitcoin. And I tell people this, when the average Joe/Jane on the street is asking about something, the game is over, time to get out. For all investing, trading related activities, leave it to the professionals, or become a professional. I am a professional trader, I have tools and advantages that just aren’t in the minds of average people. I hire top people to trade my firm’s funds, trading our strategies and techniques on our trading floors in Zagreb, Split and Dublin.

Fireside chat - Findustrial Revolution: Reimagining and Rebuilding the Future of Money
Moderator: Nikola Pavesic (Nikkei) & Tina Mirceta (Mastercard)
Money is surely the concept at the core of our economies but how money is represented and its various forms and formats is an ever-evolving notion. The ongoing global pandemic has made us question some trends and double down on others and we will try to define them in this talk. How 2020 Has Changed the Way We Invest
Michael Pötscher (Bitpanda)
Investing in 2019 feels a lot like investing back in 2009: A poor user experience, unnecessary bureaucracy and high entry costs to name just a few pain points. The key to achieving the re-invetion of investments is digitalization and tokenization. The road to mainstream crypto adoption has already begun as institutions have stepped in in a big way. Moreover, institutional crypto involvement is rising as the demand for Bitcoin soars amid the Coronavirus crisis. Bitpanda is Europe's leading investment platform that breaks the routine in the financial world with the aim of enabling everyone to invest - no matter the background. By doing so, the company is democratizing access to capital markets.
