Greg Fisher
Associate Professor
Greg Fisher is the Larry and Barbara Sharpf Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He is also a visiting professor at the Gordon Institute of Business Science in South Africa and at Algebra University in Croatia. He holds a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and Strategy from The University of Washington in Seattle and an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science in Johannesburg. Greg teaches and conducts research in the areas of strategy and entrepreneurship. He has won multiple teaching awards at Indiana University, The University of Washington, and The Gordon Institute of Business Science. In 2014 he was named on the list of the “40 Most Outstanding B-School Profs under 40” and in 2016 he was named among the “Favorite Business School Professor Teaching MBAs” by Poets and Quants website. In 2018 he won the Emerging Scholar Award from the Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division. Greg was born and educated in South Africa. Prior to pursuing a career in academia, he completed a Bachelor of Accounting undergraduate degree and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in South Africa. He worked at Deloitte for 5 years before founding, building, and later selling a training solutions venture called Learninglab. Greg’s current research examines issues related to strategy and resource acquisition in entrepreneurial firms. His research has been published in the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, the Journal of Management Studies, the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, and The Oxford Handbook on Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. Greg serves as editor of Business Horizons and associate editor for the Academy of Management Review. He was an expert contributor to Entrepreneur Magazine from 2006 to 2012 where he contributed over 60 feature articles for the publication on the topics related to strategy, business planning, innovation, new venture creation, and business management.
