Jesse Robbins is a founder and investor focused on developer tools, infrastructure, and AI. Jesse is best known for founding Chef, a pioneer in cloud infrastructure automation, and starting the DevOps movement. These efforts combined to fundamentally improve the way teams build, deploy, and maintain software. Jesse is a General Partner at Heavybit, where he invests in and supports founders leading the next generation of developer tools, cloud infrastructure, and AI startups. He currently serves on the boards of Continue, Sanity, Mobot, and Memgraph, and advises technology companies like PagerDuty, Fastly, LaunchDarkly, CircleCI, LocalStack, Tailscale, Blockdaemon, and Replicated. Previously, Jesse worked at Amazon, where he was known as the ""Master of Disaster"" for improving website reliability and pioneering the Incident Management and GameDay Programs - now better known as Site Reliability and Chaos Engineering. He also founded the Velocity Web Performance & Operations Conference and edited the Web Operations book. Jesse’s work and life has been profoundly influenced by his experience as a trained firefighter and emergency manager, and he continues to volunteer as much as his schedule allows. Jesse lives in San Francisco, CA.
